Finally gave in and had lasik done. 22 years I've worn glasses and decided one day, I've had enough. Hubby had his done by Dr. Tanchel and he loves being specs free so I came in for a consultation and scheduled the procedure a week later. Dr. Tanchel is very thorough and talks you through every step from start to finish. She runs a test during consultation and maps you're eyes again the day of. The procedure itself took only seconds, you definitely feel the pressure while she preps your eyes but no pain when the laser is creating a flap or reshaping your cornea. The most pain you'll ever feel is the tape that holds your eyes open is getting peeled off. You will however smell tissue burning and the gnarly sound of laser as it passes over your eyeball is nerve wracking. I'm glad I called for a script of Valium and filled it on my way to the clinic. It definitely took the edge off even though both eyes were done in less than 5 minutes. I was able to see right away although I was extremely sensitive to the light, it was amazing how blind (OD 600, OS 550) I was but instantaneously post lasik my vision was clear and I could see without glasses. It's been 3 months since and my vision is getting better everyday as my eyes continues to heal. The only downside is they get extremely dry especially when I forget to do the preservative free lubricant. I had dry eyes to begin with so it was to be expected. The light still bothers me but getting better each day. The halos and glare when driving at night are also diminishing. I hid behind my glasses for decades but I'm so happy I got my peepers fixed. I love waking up in the morning not having to feel around for my glasses anymore.

I've been meaning to write this review for a long time. But now after 3 years from my surgery it's even more valuable. I came to Dr. Tanchel 3 years ago for a consultation. I was thinking of getting a LASIK and was shopping around. At that time there were so many deals on Groupon offering a surgery for just $1000, but I am so happy that I decided to go with the 5 star Liberty Laser Eye Center. That was the only clinic that offered a lifetime guarantee if you send them your annual doctor visit results ever year (and you can even use any eye doctor). Besides that they gave me a solid discount for paying all amount in cash. At the time of my first appointment Dr. Tanchel answered all my questions, she was very nice and attentive. I knew there're risks associated with getting this surgery done, but I found the doctor I could trust my sight with! The surgery went well, i didn't feel any pain. Dr. Tanchel prepared me so I was not scared or nervous. The very next day after I got it done I woke up in the morning and went outside. My vision was so clear I couldn't believe it! It is still a miracle for me how I can see everything so clear now, and Dr. Tanchel is my hero! Like I was re-born and started a new life, noticing every little beautiful detail around me. If I could five 10 stars to amazing Dr. Tanchel, I definitely would!

I had my surgery in December of 2015. It has been almost a year and my eyesight is amazing!!! You don't understand... The prescription to my eye glasses was -9. I was blind without my eyeglasses. The only way I can describe my vision is like when you go to the pool and open your eyes underwater. That was my vision!! I actually went to another major lasik center in the area, and they made me feel like I was another number. It wasn't personal... I honestly saw the doctor for 3 minutes max!! And that was a 1 hour appointment. That appointment turned me off of lasik for over 3 years until I went to Liberty. My experience with Dr. Tanchel was completely different. She took her time to talk me and provided me all the information I needed. She made me feel comfortable with the surgery. I had PRK done and the healing process was long. But way worth it!! I see things now with extreme clarity!! The details in the clouds and trees is crazy!! Just can't explain it. Definitely will recommend anybody with high prescriptions to Dr. Tanchel!!!

I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Dr. Tanchel! If you're seriously considering LASIK, then take advantage of the free consultation to discover if you're a candidate for the procedure. I'm thrilled with the results and very happy that I ultimately decided to go with Liberty Laser Eye Center. Although the LASIK doesn't take long at all, I was naturally a bit anxious. Dr. Tachel has a calm, reassuring voice and throughout the procedure she talked to me and explained everything that was happening. I've read poor reviews from patients who went to other doctors that were not as communicative as Dr. Tachel, and I definitely would not be comfortable with that type of doctor. Dr. Tachel also called me the night after my procedure just to check in and see how I was doing. Really appreciated her thoughtfulness!

I had my eye surgery in Jan 2015. Went for my follow up in July and I am still seeing 20/15! It was a great choice. I can't speak for other LASIK centers that exist but after reading Yelp reviews about how salesy some can be and sometime downright rude I decided to come here. It is definitely personalized service and there is only 3 or 4 employees including the doctor. That's a very good thing in my book. Highly recommend this place and I have been recommending to friends and family ever since. My costs FYI was $3,850. This is quite reasonable in my book.

Friendly and professional staff. Not just flawless surgery, but excellent follow ups (if needed) as well. Would recommend to family and friends thinking of improving their vision. No more glasses or contacts!

Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Tanchel and Travis at Liberty Laser. They were extremely friendly, patient and efficient. My husband used a LivingSocial deal for his Lasik and he couldn't be happier with the results. At first we were hesitant in using a coupon for such a procedure, but I assure you that Liberty Laser is the real deal. Every step was carefully planned and explained by both Dr. Tanchel and Travis so that we were comfortable and informed. My husband and I highly recommend this place.

One of the best investments I have made. I was very nervous about this type of procedure, after all I only have one pair of eyes. After thinking it over for a long time I decided to do LASIK. I am very satisfied with the treatment I've received from the Liberty Laser Eye Center in Vienna,VA. I went through what I felt was a thorough consultation to determine my candidacy and was informed I was a candidate and what type of procedure would need to be done for successful outcomes. I was then instructed to not wear contacts for a period of time until the day of my procedure which was completed last Wednesday (5 Days Ago). I went in for my procedure, filled out some paperwork and then went through another pre-op examination to make sure they had the correct information going in. After that I went into the procedure a little nervous but felt at ease by the staff who were professional and kept me informed of everything going on. Dr. Tanchel kept talking to me throughout the entire procedure letting me know exactly what was happening and easing any anxiety although after the first few seconds I had already begun to relax. The hardest part of the procedure for me was trying to concentrate on the blinking lights. Now five days into the recovery period I am taking eye drops frequently as instructed and two types of prescription eye drops for a short period. However, after the first day my eyes felt pretty normal except for minor dryness and I can see clearly which makes the procedure completely worth it. I haven't experienced any side effects and am happy I did the procedure through Dr. Nancy Tanchel who I have complete confidence in.

Dr Tanchel and Travis were awesome. I had my lasik procedure done about a year ago and purchased the coupon from groupon . I wore prescription glasses for 37 years and my only regret is why I did not do lasik earlier. My right eye is 20/25 and my left eye is 20/20. Now I can go swimming under water and can see everything clearly with my goggles also when it rains I don't have to remove my prescription glasses anymore and best of all I can wear cool sunglasses. Thank you once again Dr Tanchel and her wonderful staff.

I can wake up and see across my bedroom!! =D I bought the groupon here and it's been a wonderful experience. Dr Tanchel and Travis are amazing! They're helpful, responsive and go above and beyond to ensure that your experience will be safe and informed. Very pleased and post op I'm seeing better than 20/20. Before, I couldn't see the big E across from a room.. I would see about 2 incredibly fuzzy lines and now it just feels like nothing short of a miracle! The procedure itself was a bit scary but that is only because I'm a complete WIMP. It went smoothly though, all because of Dr Tanchel's reassurance and expertise. Would I do it again? Hell yes!

I came in for the consultation and scheduled the surgery 2 weeks later. I had my lasik surgery 3 days ago. It's the best decision I've ever made. It feels great not having to worry about contacts! On the day of the surgery I was super excited up until minutes before the procedure. I started to get really nervous and I was so scared. Dr. Tanchel is an amazing doctor. She comforted me by walking me through the whole procedure and reassured me that everything is going great. After the procedure I was told to rest and close my eyes for at least 2 hour and I did for about 5 hours. After that I immediately notice my vision has improved. Dr. Tanchel even called me later that evening to make sure I was doing well! I had a follow up the next day and my vision was already 20/20, even with a bit inflammation. Best decision ever thanks to Dr. Tanchel and Travis!
